    garage doors

Our customer, Antonio, has a huge shed on his property. He likes to store his toys there and was ready to finally add some garage doors to the shed.

He wanted to protect his toys from the elements, and also secure them at night or when he’s away with a locked door.

The shed opening measured 12×14 so we needed some seriously heavy duty doors to fill this space.

The one request Antonio had was a non-commercial look when it came to the doors. He wanted the garage doors to look more residential, which can be challenging when you are dealing with doors of this size.

We found garage doors that have the right look and come in the 12×14 size needed. The doors were loaded up on our truck for delivery! We needed some major horsepower to haul these 🙂

Our crew framed out the opening for the doors and installed the tracks to get ready to install the doors.

We installed the doors, as well as 2 new LiftMaster 8500 jack shaft garage door openers on each door. The jack shaft opener allows us to install the opener on the wall instead of the ceiling which is more common in residential applications. This allows for more clearance over head.

When the garage doors are open, it’s almost as though they aren’t even there so Antonio has lots of clearance to get his toys in and out with ease!

    Garage Door Specs

These beautiful insulated garage doors come with a lifetime warranty against cracks and rust. The garage doors also also 24 gauge doors with metal construction. The 24 gauge just means they are very thick, so they can withstand a lot of bumps and scratches over time.

The steel back construction will help to insulate the garage from harsh temperatures as well, so Antonio’s toys don’t overheat or get too cold.

If you need to replace your garage door because it no longer works or simply because you want an upgrade, the first thing that you’re probably thinking about is cost. However, when you consider costs, make sure you put quality in the equation as well. What might seem like a good deal can turn out to be a waste of money in the long run – because you want your garage door to last. And – to work.

Like with all important investments, when shopping for garage doors it’s better to spend some extra money than pay more later. Your garage door will be subjected to intensive use, which is why you need an efficient and durable system.

Here are some reasons why Sugarland Garage Door professionals strongly advise you to think twice before purchasing a used garage door or one that is made from low quality materials.

    1.  What Looks Like Saving Might Turn into Spending

Used or discount garage doors are likely to break down easier than a new door. You don’t want your ‘new’ door to get stuck unexpectedly or be forced to call garage door services to repair it every month. A high quality garage door will save you the trouble, and the money you’ll have to pay for repeated repairs. Moreover, a garage door is a heavy piece of machinery which can be hazardous if it doesn’t work properly. For safety reasons, it best to purchase your garage door from a reputable manufacturer.

    2.  Professional Installation May Be Hard to Find

Installing a garage door is difficult, so you need professional assistance. Improper handling during installation can cause major injuries, therefore it’s highly recommended to leave it in the hands of experts. However, companies offering installation services may decline installing a used or unsafe door for liability concerns. When installing a garage door, professionals are asked to follow and comply with strict safety standards.

    3.  No Warranty

High quality doors, manufactured by trustworthy companies, come with a warranty. In case something goes wrong, you can always call them to fix things. On the other hand, if you buy a used door or some low-cost item from a no-name distributor, you are on your own. If the door breaks down, you can’t get help from certified specialists.

To make sure you get what you pay for and to stay on the safe side, it’s best to purchase a new, high quality garage door. Sugarland Garage Door experts can assist you in choosing the right garage door for your home. Contact us today to get the details, and have your door installed in no time.

If you are considering replacing your garage door there are certain factors and options that will end up affecting the total cost of the project. Garage doors can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to several thousands dollars depending on the type of door you choose.

Here are six garage door options that will affect the price:

    1.       Garage Door Material

Garage door companies like Sugarland Texas Garage Door offer doors in a variety of different materials and each material has its own advantages and disadvantages. Aluminum and steel doors are usually the least expensive option. More durable materials like fiberglass or vinyl will cost more, but require less maintenance. Wood doors also come in a wide-variety of price ranges, since they vary based on the quality of the wood.

    2.       Type of Opening Mechanism

Modern garage door openers come with several different security options depending on your personal preference. There are different remote access features, rolling code technology, and even garage door openers that use fingerprint recognition to grant entry.

    3.       New Garage Door Tracking

Purchasing and installing tracking will have an impact on the price of your new garage door. If you are replacing an existing door and your tracking is still in good condition, you won’t have to worry about the additional expense. Make sure the estimator including the tracking if you don’t have it already.

    4.       Insulation Costs

If you plan on using your garage as a workspace, there will be additional costs to insulate the door. Most garage doors come with weather stripping, but you will also need foam insulation on the interior of the door itself to keep the cold air out in the winter.

    5.       Cost of Installation

Make sure to request installation quotes from several different garage store companies since there could be drastic price differences. Don’t trust any company that is significantly lower or higher than the rest, since it is usually the sign of a scam.

    6.       Special Features & Add-ons

Selecting a garage door that has windows in it will enhance the curb appeal; it will also raise the price of the door. Make sure to ask the garage door company to quote on any optional special features and add-ons that they recommend. This way you know your choices and you can choose which ones are within your budget.
